We've made these several times and think they taste great. It's a super handy recipe since you make the sandwiches the night before and then can just cut and serve the next day, or pack them up and take them on a picnic. We've used them for family reunions and gatherings like that and there are never any leftovers!
OVERNIGHT SANDWICHES
12 (generous) servings
Ingredients
2 loaves Italian bread
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
3/4 cup green onions, sliced
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 pound ham, thinly sliced
1 pound roast beef
pickles, sliced
Directions
Cut bread loaves in half lengthwise. Hollow out top and bottom, leaving 1/2 inch shell.
Combine cheeses, onions, mayo and Worcestershire sauce. Spread over cut sides of bread. Layer meats on both sides of bread. Place pickles on bottom half. Press halves together. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 2 hours.
Slice and serve.
